The Packburn 323A Packburn is a professional real-time analog noise reduction unit designed for archivists, record companies, and serious collectors. It is an analog noise suppressor designed to eliminate or reduce noises due to imperfections in and damage to sound recordings in all analog audio media and their digital reproduction, including cylinder, disk, film wire, and tape recordings, both monophonic and stereophonic.

The 323A is a three-stage noise reduction device. Two noise reduction stages address clicks and pops whereas one addresses hiss. This was used to transfer some older recordings for remastering however I am no longer doing this type so I'm passing it on to someone who can use it.

Given its age and that it is a specialty device I am selling AS-IS.

There is a video in the gallery below that is a quick cell phone video showing the Packburn 323A with music running through the unit into a stereo system. You can hear the various filters affecting the audio signal.

For a great primer on how to use the 323A in your restoration signal chain check out the MANUAL OF ANALOGUE SOUND RESTORATION TECHNIQUES by Peter Copeland (The British Library Analogue Sound Restoration Techniques). This rather long URL should direct you to it.

It is currently available to purchase on Reverb.com for $550.00
